Functional Practices > Human Capital Resources & Leadership

Human capital is more than having the right people in the right places within the organization.  An effective human capital infrastructure includes recruitment, selection, training and development; leadership development; culture; systems for performance management; and feedback loops.

Rather than just looking at the individual managers, we examine how information is collected, analyzed, and shared; how the managers function as a team; how decisions are made, and whether forward planning is a concept that they embrace as part of the culture.  The ability of the management team to execute on the appropriate strategy for growth is as important as the strategy itself.  The ability of the company to correct short-comings and capitalize on strategic opportunities ultimately comes down to the management team.

Instead of examining the skills and competencies of the individuals, we examine their collective capabilities and processes as a team.  Are they fact-based decision makers and open to new, well supported ideas?  Do they gather, analyze, and share information?  Is their strategic planning a dynamic process or a book that is done once a year and stays on a shelf?  Is their style consensual or autocratic?  Through a series of individual interviews, we gather insights that are compared to external feedback on the company.
